Kenny Kosek

Has anyone ever pinned down the dates on which Kenny Kosek performed with JGAB on Broadway? I know he came out west for the Warfield and Wiltern gigs, but I have never pinned down when he was and was not present at the Lunt-Fontanne.

  1. If anyone does pin it down, please update this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pure_Jerry:_Lunt-Fontanne,_New_York_City,_The_Best_of_the_Rest,_October_15%E2%80%9330,_1987

  2. I think Kosek's first show was 10/27/87. I don't hear him on 10/15 through 10/25. There are no circulating tapes of 10/27, but he is playing on the tracks dated 10/27 on the Ragged But Right release -- plus on the band introduction track (date not given, but it precedes Deep Elem Blues dated 10/27) Jerry introduces "Kenny Kosek on the fiddle, that's the new guy" and Rothman adds, "we've only got 3 more to go, let's give a good hand for Jerry," so that sounds like 10/27.

Kosek is there on 10/28 (the On Broadway Act One official release). There are no circulating tapes for 10/30, so we don't know about that one. Kosek is there on 10/31 and then on all of the following Warfield and Wiltern shows. Then Kosek is *not* there for any of the 1988 JGAB sets.

    1. correction: the Pure Jerry "Lunt-Fontanne, The Best of the Rest" official release has 2 tracks dated 10/30/87 - I Ain't Never and It's a Long Way to the Top of the World - with another band introduction in between. Kosek does not play on I Ain't Never, then Jerry intros the band with Kosek, then Kosek plays on It's a Long Way to the Top of the World. So yes to 10/30 as well.
