update: commenter WWHS Clear Vision informs us that it is "The English Country Garden" - "it's an English folk song that was popularized by Percy Grainger." Thank you!
Both fragments are the song English Country Garden, it's an English folk song that was popularized by Percy Grainger.
ReplyDeleteI am so grateful for this - thank you, thank you!
DeleteAhhh, and this is fun - he also does it 6/23/79 early after "The Hunter Gets Captured By The Game", around 5:17 of track one on the early show fragment recently circulated by Alan Bershaw, shnid-149120.
ReplyDeleteGlad I could help. I think you have to be "of a certain age" to have that song embedded in your subconscious. I can't remember all the places I heard it but Captain Kangaroo was certainly one place.
ReplyDeleteWell, I saw the Captain toward the tail end of his run, I imagine (70s), and of course the same Looney Tunes and all that. So so many of these things feel utterly familiar, but were pure background.
Deletei wonder whose version jerry garcia heard?
ReplyDeleteI-) ihor
