5/11/72 Rotterdam
Nothing really knocked me out. Nice to see some setlist variations (PITB and Truckin' in unconventional placements, Dew and UJB making appearances). But Pigpen seems to be running out of steam - neither Good Lovin' nor Caution really takes off for me, though I did enjoy learning that Pig keeps a bucket of greaze next to the bed so he can slap some on his transmission and drive.
--edit - the last Caution? Noooooo .......
I just want to say that I'm glad to hear someone else is underwhelmed by this show. Even back when E72 tapes weren't all at our fingertips, I still secretly never got what the big deal about this show, beyond the too-good-to-be-true setlist.
ReplyDeleteWow! I love Rotterdam. Different strokes and so forth, I guess. This Dark stands at the foot of the Parthenon. Drippy, lava flowing ooze. This show is fantastic.

Yep. And not just different strokes for different folks but, in my case, different strokes for the same person upon different listens. Next time I hear it, I might agree with you.
ReplyDeleteI never got it either, I've mostly just listened to the Dark Star and although some of them could be 20 minutes longer, I always thought you could chop 15-20 minutes out of this one...
