Linda Chicana

Is the name of the song that has gone on Reconstruction setlists as "Linda".

Here is Cal Tjader doing it:

  1. fwiw, I believe Tjader recorded this after Reconstruction's time was up. I'd bet that the version they were covering was this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZAlM5afW2MY

by Pete & Sheila Escovedo, from 1977 on Fantasy.

    1. Original version is "SHEILA" Released in 1969 by Cuban master conga player Mongo Sanataria. Later recorded by Cal Tjader. RIP both of these great musicians.

    2. That is true - but that recording was unreleased until the cd 'Afro American Latin' came out in 2000 (it's a great album!).

  3. Cool stuff. Nick, that also supports some of your earlier analysis in comments on various Reconstruction posts, that they were drawing from this particular late '70s Fantasy studios jazz.
