Martin Fierro and Shades Of Joy opened for GD: 2/28/69 3/2/69 3/3/71
Jackie King, Willie Nelson and Shades Of Joy left handed guitarist, passed away in 2016. He has a son in San Rafael-415 479 2402. Maybe he knows how long Martin Fierro was in Shades of Joy.
You spent all that time in the ’60s on the West Coast. How about Jerry Garcia? "People, at that time, were always playing together, so Jerry and I did some stuff. Mike Bloomfield, Rick Derringer, they’d all come through and we’d play." 910
It seems like most of players in the Shades of Joy were from Texas. Martin Fierro said in an interview (2005ish? I can't find it online anymore) that there was a tight-knit scene of Texas-San Francisco transplants who would often party and jam together, and that Garcia would occasionally hang out and play at those get-togethers. Grain of salt, of course, but that could be where King and Garcia may have played together? or maybe, given that King may have known Howard Wales through that same Texas network, he could have shown up at an early Wales/Garcia Matrix jam?

Anyone know where and when Jerry played with Jackie King? Maybe studio work?
