Heresy Alert

Avert your eyes if you are sensitive to this sort of thing.
Great tapes, but 2/2/80 set I does nothing for me.
Discuss.

Further hypothesis: it exhibits the "Cornell Effect", whereby great sounding tape produces systematic and massive overestimation of performance quality.

UPDATE: In March 2021 I revisited this show, and found it to be "killer". Let that be a lesson to you, readers, that my assessments are not only subjective (lacking reliability) but also inconsistent (lacking validity).

  1. I find the opposite effect can also occur, whereby a great sounding tape produces systematic and massive boredom in comparison with a more lively audience or matrix source tape.

  2. Totally true. 2/4/81 there's a piece of guitar feedback that I love, having learned it from a very raggedy tape.

I noticed this on listens to different versions of 3/2/85, as well.
