JGB: October 27, 1982, Rissmiller's Club, Reseda, CA

Tapes have circulated dated October 27, 1982 from Rissmiller's Club in Reseda, CA. I seem to recall that at ont point such a date was listed at the Jerry Site and that I myself got the idea that it was bogus and deleted it. I can't remember why. Anyway, the image of the Rissmiller's marquee, above (I'd like to give photo credit, but I don't know where it came from), seems to suggest that there were indeed shows on the 27th and the 28th. Would love to get confirmation from someone who attended and/or knows the story ...

Update: I have posted listening notes from a "Closet Call" audience tape of the 10/27/82 show.

Update2: 100% certain that this gig happened, now having seen various papers around it. https://jerrybase.com/events/19821027-03

  1. The Reseda shows seem to be the debut of Jaclyn LaBranch and DeeDee Dickerson as vocalists.

My original notes (the source of Deadbase IX's original list) just has double shows on the 28th, with a hand-written note "vocals", meaning I somehow figured out that the women debuted.

My source at the time would have been the Grateful Dead hotline. The show on the 27th was probably a late add.

    1. We now know this is not true. Jackie and DeeDee came in with the new year of 1983. As of the date I am posting this, the singers have not been publicly identified. But a birdie tells me we should hear some names --that we have never heard before-- in January.

  2. I saw jgb a couple times in the early 80s. night have been this show. If I saved my ticket stubs, they are packed in a box after numerous moves.

  3. I have ticket stubs for the 28th early and late show. Don't remember much about it or remember going to the 27th. But the JGB played there in 82,83 and 84. 83 and 84 being especially hot shows.

tickets were $12.50 for the 28th shows.. Show times were 8 and 11pm. Would post my scanned ticket stubs but don't know how here.

  5. I can now confirm the 10/27 show (in addition to the known 10/28 show), based on an itinerary in the GD Archives. The band stayed at the Sportsman's Lodge in Studio City, for those who were wondering.

  6. I have a poster for that Halloween weekend...it only lists Jerry Garcia Band for 10/28, Sparks for 10/29, Cramps for 10/30, and Warren Zevon for 10/31. 10/27 must have been a late add.

  7. My second hand news. The 11/28 late show was the first JGB show. Early show was sold out. A friend had tried to get 28 early show tickets the at the door-his story and that of others shut out of the early show was the JBG was played on the 27th, $5 cover, and no one could agree how long they played. They were also talking the club was almost empty with lots off room to dance. The late show I attended was completely packed had a dear prudence and deal that transformed me into a head.
